Voile du Sud Engineering offers the possibility of having two qualities of thread for your sails depending on the resistance required.

DABOND

Dabond is a twisted and bonded thread, made from continuous polyester filaments. Combining high performance thread, with excellent protection against UV rays and abrasion, it has been specifically designed to withstand bad weather conditions. Dabond is able to resist against damage caused by UV rays and is therefore suitable for outdoor equipment exposed to sea water and sunlight.

Characteristics and advantages

  • Dabond has excellent UV resistance for usage when exposed to sea water and sunlight
  • The unique bonding technology is a guarantee against untwisting of the thread in zigzag through multiple layers of fabric.
  • Double level of lubrication to protect from the heat given off by the needle and for a smoother seam.
  • Excellent resistance to bleach, mildew and rot.
  • Dabond is the only polyester thread ecologically bonded available on the market
  • Tenara is the standard within the sailing industry, for outdoor and marine applications

TENARA

TENARA is a thread extraordinarily resistant to UV. It significantly extends the life span of products designed for outside use. Traditional thread often becomes brittle after only a few years and wears when exposed to wind and other climatical conditions. With TENARA, performances are not altered even in the worst weather conditions or exposure to harmful UV rays.

The TENARA® thread remains flexible even at extremely high or low temperatures. They give the fabrics designed for outside the strength required to withstand the most demanding climatic conditions, even after many years.
